Firefly: The Game

"After the Earth was used up, we found a new solar system and hundreds of new Earths were terra formed and colonized. The central planets formed the Alliance and decided all the planets had to join under the rule. There was some disagreement on that point. After the War, many of the Independents who had fought and lost drifted to the edges of the system, far from Alliance control. Out here, people struggled to get by with the most basic technologies; a ship would bring you work a gun would help you keep it. A captain's goal was simple: find a crew, find a job, keep flying."

~ Shepherd Derrial Book ~

The popular television Firefly comes to life in a new board game from Gale Force Nine and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products. An evocative universe, great storytelling, and compelling characters made Firefly a fan-favorite for more than a decade. Now, fans of the television show and board games, generally, can chart their own course with Firefly: The Game!

In Firefly: The Game, players captain their Firefly-class transport ship, traveling the 'Verse with a handpicked crew of fighters, mechanics, and other travelers. As a captain desperate for work, players are compelled to take any job - so long as it pays. Double-dealing employees, heavy-handed Alliance patrols, and marauding Reavers are all in a day's work for a ship's captain at the edge of the 'Verse.

Coming soon to The Gaming Pit, in Guaynabo, P.R.

Firefly: Breakin' Atmo' Expansion

Last month, Gale Force 9 premiered its Firefly: The Game board game during Gen Con 2013. The game is expected to hit retail stores sometime this month. Expecting brisk sales, Gale Force 9 just announced that it will release an expansion to the yet unreleased board game: Breakin' Atmo'.

The Breakin' Atmo' expansion adds 50 new Job and Supply cards, featuring new and challenging missions, such as "Riot Supression - Dock Worker Strike", "Street Sweepers", and "Gentleman's Dueling Sword" (ouch, I hope players have better luck than Capt. Mal in that episode...) Breakin' Atmo' requires Firefly: The Game to play.  It is not a stand-alone expansion.

Breakin' Atmo' is expected to be at your friendly local game store in November.  Suggested retail price is $11.99.

If you are in Puerto Rico, Bad DM recommends you contact The Gaming Pit, Guaynabo, where both Firefly: The Game and Breakin' Atmo' have been preordered in limited quantities. Reserve yours now.

Sons Of Anarchy Board Game

If you were at Gen Con last month, you had the opportunity to buy an advance copy of Gale Force 9's new board game Firefly: The Game. Inside the box, Gale Force 9 was inserting the Sons of Anarchy teaser page you see on the left side of this article. It seems Gale Force 9 has purchased the right to produce a board game based on Sons of Anarchy, the FX Network motorcycle gang show starring Charlie Hunnam and Katey Segal, and which has averaged 4.9 million viewers per week.

The release of the Sons of Anarchy board game is expected for the end of 2013 or early 2014. Until then, you can supplement your thirst for Sons of Anarchy by reading the Sons of Anarchy comics, the first of which is expected to ship at the end of this month.

Firefly: Out To The Dark Card Game

Currently celebrating its 10th anniversary since its premiere on Fox, Firefly has maintained a strong position in the hearts of science-fiction fans the world over.  Starring Nathan Fillion as Captain Malcolm Reynolds with a ragtag crew aboard the spaceship Serenity, Firefly is best known for its unique spin on classic sci-fi tropes, witty dialogue, and memorable characters, courtesy of beloved creator Joss Whedon.

Based on the critically acclaimed, fan favorite television series, Firefly: Out to the Black is a hootenanny of adventure and misbehavin' spread out across the blackness of the 'Verse.  As one of the nine Serenity crew members, players work together to face the various entanglements that come your way, including the Alliance, Reavers, low-down dirty deceivers, and all manner of nastiness as you scour for jobs, choose partners for your missions, and ultimately do your best to stay afloat and keep on flyin'!

Available in October 2013.  Suggested retail price: $24.99.
